Folks, when you work with an automaker like Jeep, it certainly doesn't hurt to have champagne in the fridge at all times. What can we say, if the recent new regarding the 2013 Best Retained Value Awards were any indication, celebrations just come with the territory. And now that our very own Jeep Grand Cherokee has reached a milestone for the ages, it's time once again to break out the bubbly here at Lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Twin Falls.

Believe it or not, but the five-millionth Jeep Grand Cherokee has officially made its way down the production line.

Now, as special as this occasion would be under any circumstance, it's especially important to our friends at the Jefferson North assembly plant in Detroit where this momentous occasion took place. The reason being that, when the economy tanked in 2009 and Jeep (along with just about every other American automaker) was in danger of going bankrupt, the 3-million square-foot facility and all its employees were in danger of following suit. But as Chrysler began to rebound, so did operations at Jefferson North.

Things have been going so well, in fact, that the brass at Chrysler went and added an extra 1,100 employees to the plant back in October. Needless to say, we're not the only ones happy about the news.

"Today is a day of celebration," says Virdell King, assistant director of the United Auto Workers. "We thank Sergio Marchionne for believing in us and being a leader who delivers on his promises."1

As for the five-millionth model in question, it was a silver 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was donated to the USO. And if you'd like to join in on the fun, feel free to pay us a visit at our dealership here in Twin Falls, ID. Take it from us, there's a whole lot to be thankful for.
