As our good buddy Tim McGraw will surely tell you, the 2013 Dodge Challenger is one seriously mean machine. Heck, with a 3.6-liter V-6 engine that cranks out up to 305 horsepower and 268 lb.-ft. of torque, this bad boy was made to burn rubber. Well thanks to the adrenaline junkies who make our vehicles here at Lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Twin Falls, the Challenger's about to get a whole lot meaner.
Right this very moment, the engineers at Dodge are hard at work on a supercharged version of the Challenger that they're dubbing the "Hellcat." Details are still slim, but rumor has it that whatever engine it's working with will deliver a whopping 640 horsepower. Very exciting news to say the least, the only catch is that it won't make its way to the assembly line until mid-2014.
Not being fans of the waiting game, the gearheads over at Hennessey decided they'd get to work on their own HPE650 Dodge Challenger SRT8.
Not only are they planning to launch it before the Hellcat hits the road, but they're apparently outfitting it with a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine for a none-too-shabby 650 horsepower. Furthermore, it will come complete with a TVS2300 supercharger, an upgraded fuel system and high-flow fuel injectors, among other noteworthy additions.
Then again, there's still no word on how much it will cost or when it will be available for purchase. But regardless of when these muscle cars arrive, you've still got time to wait. With that said, feel free to tide yourself over with a good old-fashioned test drive at our dealership here in Twin Falls, ID. After all, it does come with the Tim McGraw stamp of approval.
